Ottawa Frontrunners (OFR) is a running and walking club for members of the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (2SLGBTQ) community and friends. Located in Ottawa, it is Canada’s national capital chapter of International Frontrunners. We have runners of various ages and skill levels and typically have groups going between 5 and 9 km (3 and 5.59 miles) at various paces. Walkers are also members of the club, consisting usually of runners on the injury list and partners or friends of runners.

For more information about Ottawa Frontrunners, including joining or out-of-town guests, please visit our about page. If you would like to join OFR, just show up to one of our runs or e-mail us at ofr@ottawafrontrunners.org.

NOTICE:

  • To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend (25–26 May 2024), John Shep (host of The Trillium Running Podcast for Athletics Ontario) interviewed Maya, our club’s Co-chair, in episode 121. Maya talked about the importance of the “community element that we can’t just ignore. People need connection, and for some people that is running; for some people, it’s walking; for some people, it’s being the person in the cheering station. … Yes, running is about running, but running is also about so many other things. Those other pieces make the running experience what it is!”
